A passenger and driver have been arrested after an air crash on the Bora Bora beach.
Police say a 32-year-old man and a 34-year old woman were caught on CCTV driving a car into a sea of sand at the edge of the Bona Bora Beach.
They are accused of driving the car into the sea and causing damage to a car and surfboard on a beach at a popular tourist destination in the area.
“The driver of the car was not injured in the incident, and is currently assisting the police with their investigation,” police said in a statement.
The driver and passenger were arrested at the scene.
An air crash was reported about 6:30pm (AEDT) on the beach near the intersection of Highway 1 and Bora Bay, with police saying a 32 year old man was caught on camera driving into the surf.
There were reports of an injured passenger at the time.
Bora Bay Police said the man and the woman were taken to hospital for treatment.
