Netflix has the perfect show to save the world from climate change
Netflix has created a new series about a young girl who, after surviving a nuclear war, finds that a new world order is better for her than her own.
“The Handmaid’s Tale,” written and directed by Sarah Polley, premieres on the streaming service on April 19.
It’s the latest in a series of new series created by the company to tackle climate change, which is one of the major issues facing humanity at this time of year.
“Netflix is a global leader in creating content that addresses the pressing issues of our time,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.
“This series, the latest addition to our global slate, takes a new approach to the issue of climate change by focusing on young girls who are not alone.”
The Handmaids Tale is a dystopian tale about the plight of an American women who, as a result of a war, has been stripped of her rights and is forced to live in a gated community of “handmaids” that serve as a protection against the spread of the virus.
“I think there’s no doubt that climate change is a major issue that we’re confronting now,” Polley said of the series.
“It’s the single most pressing issue facing us right now.
And I think that this series is the perfect thing for Netflix to address that.”
The series is based on the novel by Margaret Atwood, but the story is not based on Atwood’s work.
Instead, it’s inspired by the novels of Margaret Atterbury, whose characters live in the dystopian society of The Handmaiden Chronicles, a novel that follows an unnamed young woman who is forced by the government to live as a “handmaiden” in the American-dominated New World.
The series follows the life of the unnamed character, played by Sarah Paulson, as she grows up and learns that her freedom has been taken from her.
She begins to realize that she does not have the right to have a normal life.
“There are things that we can do,” Paulson said at a press conference, “that we can make a difference, that we will not lose, that the world will not be as we know it.”
Polley has been working on a series called The Handcuffs, which follows an Australian girl who’s forced to wear a wire cage and be confined to her bedroom by her parents.
“Handcuffs” is a series about how the US government, through the use of technology, has developed a system that allows it to control women’s bodies, which, in turn, allows them to be sexually abused.
“When I was growing up, I always imagined being forced to put on a wire,” Polleys said.
“And when I grew up I thought, this is the reality.
This is what’s happening.”
Polleys’ first foray into the subject came in 2012, when she wrote a story about the impact of the Keystone XL pipeline in Texas, in which a young woman named Amber was forced to undergo a sterilization procedure in order to have the “right” to choose.
“What happened with Amber is so powerful because she’s not only an example of the power of the technology, but she’s also an example in the United States of a woman who’s literally not in a position to choose her own fate,” Polysaid.
“She’s in a cage and she’s in this world, and we all know that.
The actress said she’s inspired to continue writing about the topic in future series.”
We’re seeing an example right now in Amber’s story that we don’t always see in the rest of our lives.”
